Hi Sibongile, so tell us what a Sales Consultant’s work involves?
Basically, my work is based around insurance sales, brokering and administrating policies. During the course of my work day, I do outbound calls to clients and I work on amendments to client policies, as well as assisting clients with the negotiation of discounts on their policies.
What makes a good Sales Consultant?
I take my work very seriously and I’m very motivated. I feel motivation is very important for someone to be a good in this job. You must be hungry for what you want because in sales there’s a lot of competion. Also, you need to work hard and set goals for yourself.
How did you first get started in your career?
After finishing my Matric, I did a short online vocational course studying working at call-centres. When I completed these studies, I started working as a customer service consultant in an international call-centre, in Cape Town, that serviced UK based customers. After that, I worked for a brokerage firm for over a year. During that time, I used to walk past ooba’s head office building and I’d see ooba’s sign on the building, so I always wondered what it was about and so I went online to find out more about ooba. Then applied for a job here.
What advice would you give to someone applying for a career at ooba?
ooba is like a home. Every single day, I can’t wait to get out of bed and get here to spend my day here. So apply to ooba, it’s the place to be!
